The Daily Miracle in a Sunflower

I can walk outside intending to water one pot and lose twenty minutes watching what is happening inside a single flower.

On this sunflower were three visitors: two big, fuzzy bumblebees and one smaller bee, each working its own little section as if the whole garden depended on it. And in a way, it did.

That is what amazes me about nature. God did not simply make a pretty yellow flower. He made the seed, the soil, the sun, the rain, the bee, the pollen, and the instinct that brings all of them together at exactly the right time. A tiny ecosystem is carrying out its assignment while most of us hurry past it.

Look Closely

We tend to wait for enormous answers and unmistakable signs. Meanwhile, daily miracles are blooming beside the driveway.

• A seed knows which direction to grow.
• A bee knows where to land.
• A flower follows the sun.
• A tired heart can become grateful simply by paying attention.

I do not believe wonder is childish. I believe it is one of the ways we remember that we are cared for.

So today, step outside for five minutes. Leave the phone inside if you can. Find one living thing and really look at it. Notice the color, the pattern, the work being done quietly. Thank God for something small and specific.

The world may still be noisy when you go back inside, but your heart will know it is not empty.

There are miracles happening every day. Some of them are wearing pollen.
